When you use drugs, they can quickly become a problem. Addiction can happen before you know it. You need to really take a look at your drug use and be honest with yourself when evaluating whether or not that drug use has become a problem. Start by asking yourself one simple question: "Do you sometimes think you have a drug problem?" If the answer is yes, you probably do have an issue with addiction. Why?
Most of the time, drug abusers deny they have a problem, or they hide from it by making excuses. It's a natural reaction to defend yourself and your behaviors. But your defenses break down once in a while. So if you sometimes think you have a problem, you almost certainly do. Think about how you feel the morning after heavy using. Anger is a normal emotion that everyone experiences at different times in their lives. When it is used and expressed properly, anger can be healthy; sometimes it motivates us to make a needed change or stand up for an important cause. However, when it happens too often or is expressed improperly anger can be a serious problem for teenagers that can affect their grades, their health, their relationships and their self-esteem. Finding ways to help teenagers learn anger management techniques is vital to helping them become productive healthy functioning adults.
If your teenager is getting in trouble at school or with the law due to anger management issues, the first thing to evaluate is your own behavior as a parent. Is your teenager modeling the behavior they learned at home? Sometimes this is a major issue, if the child is being physically or verbally assaulted at home or is witnessing this behavior in others they will have a difficult time understanding how to deal with anger appropriately. When a couple decides to get married and they repeat the part in the vows for better or for worse, few will actually think about how that vow could easily be broken with future financial difficulties. It is not uncommon for marriages to fail these days when a couple fall into debt and are unable to keep up with their bills. It is also not uncommon for a couple to not even realize that their worry and concern about their credit rating and their finances is a root cause of their wish to break the relationship. Thoughts rush back to single life when a person felt they had more control over everything in their life, and all of a sudden they start to feel that it would be easier to deal with life as a single person again. The negatives about being single dont enter the mind and they start to hang onto the positives that could lead them out of the trouble they have gotten into.

Regardless of the addiction, be it drugs, alcohol, gambling, relationships, etc., a 12-step program is the fundamental tool of many recovery programs. The basic 12 steps that groups' members actively stress are as follows, varying in some degree per addiction recovery program. Note that no particular religion or spiritual affiliation is required. All are welcome and invited.
12-Step Program
1. We admit we are powerless over our addiction - that our lives have become unmanageable
2. We believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity
3. We made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God
4. We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves
5. We admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs
